Mark your calendars now for what will be an amazing two days of
IPA Regional Meetings, our 9th year of
presenting “Focus on Phals” days.

Our featured Guest Speaker this year is Peter Lin, owner and hybridizer at Big Leaf Orchids in Southlake, Texas. An avid hobbyist, hybridizer and “backyard boutique” commercial grower, he started growing orchids over 30 years ago, eventually turning his growing into hybridizing in 1996. He makes an annual trip to Taiwan to see the latest in Phalaenopsis breeding and to select the newest to use in his breeding program. The recipient of numerous AOS awards, his main focus is on Phalaenopsis, but he also grows Vandas, Cattleyas and Paphiopedilums.

Carri Raven-Riemann will be presenting an update on the newest in Phalaenopsis breeding as seen at the 2019 Taiwan International Orchid Show.  The advances over the last few years have been eye-popping and forward-thinking, and she will also touch on Taiwan’s new approach to Judging in preparation for next year’s amazing Taiwan 2020 WOC, including updated details on how to visit both Taiwan shows, within just one week, next March.

We will have a slightly different schedule from our prior eight years, starting a little later each morning and focusing on two speakers followed by a roundtable culture discussion.  In addition we’ll have a mini auction at each meeting along with lunch and snacks to keep us all going. Plus, both speakers will be bringing plants for sale to add some new excitement to your collections.

The New Hampshire Orchid Society will Co-Host us, as always, on Saturday, September 14th, 2019, in Bedford, NH. This is always a wonderful venue for all our New England IPA members & visitors to enjoy.

And again this year, we are pleased to announce that we will be hosted on Sunday, September 15th, 2019, by the Mid-Hudson Orchid Society, a gracious society which has moved their meeting date to a week later in order to meet our IPA weekend schedule.

Registration information with more details on each meeting will be posted, beginning mid-June, on all the New England, New York and New Jersey orchid society pages, on our International Phalaenopsis Alliance Facebook pages and our IPA Regional Meetings Facebook page.

These meetings promise to be a fresh new look at current Phalaenopsis breeding trends and culture. We’re looking forward to reconnecting with all our old friends, and welcoming new, at both meetings.
